Responsibility not abstinence

The SEMS model is not the alcohol safety model your parents grew up with. We know that alcohol can be used safely and responsibly, and preaching abstinence does not solve anything. See our quick facts or our materials for students to learn how to drink safely and help out in case there is an emergency.

Bring SEMS to your school

The SEMS Foundation aims to spread the Student Emergency Medical Services Model to other college campuses. This is necessary if we are to achieve our goal: help as many college students as we can use alcohol safely, and prevent alcohol associated college deaths. We are always looking for ambitious college students to be ambassadors of the SEMS program at their schools. If you are interested in being a founding member of your SEMS chapter, or simply want information on how to get started, email a SEMS Foundation volunteer or see our introduction page for more info .

Please use our resources to navigate the college environment safely

The SEMS foundation has authored many pamphlets and informative writings directly for college students, by college students. Please use our materials for students to find out how to drink safely, learn the facts on college and alcohol, and prepare yourself incase something goes wrong one night.

Take our survey: The SEMS Foundation would like your input, as a college student or as an incoming college freshman. Please take a few minutes to take our survey so we can gain insight into how best to serve college students.

Be a designated observer: We know that many students do not drive to parties, and so drunk driving is not a huge risk. But we also know that students can die from alcohol poisoning and other alcohol related injuries when no car is involved. Just as a designated driver helps by staying sober to drive, the college environment needs friends who will stay sober to observe. Become a designated observer now - you may save a life one day.

The SEMS foundation presents "The Card" : The Card is a pocket reference for treating alcohol emergencies, which happen thousands of times each year in the united states. The online version can be printed and folded into your wallet. If you would like the official, business card printed version, please email a volunteer and we will send you enough for you and your friends.
